PROFITABLE TO ME FOR THE MINISTRY
2 Timothy 4:11 “Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.”
WOW!!! How would you like to be Mark mentioned by the apostle Paul as a great help to him in his ministry. What a great honour and something to be remembered by in eternity.
I won’t try to impress you with numbers because they are not impressive but our ministry here requires a lot of TLC and maintenance. Praise the good Lord He has given us the best of people to help us in all that we have. I did not write the Bible, but I want these helpers put down in my book of remembrance…Roger and Jenny Apostol. You read the last name correctly and we consider them a gift of God. Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
The good Lord gave our ministry a family named Apostol and they have 12 kids, yes 12, and we have enjoyed ministering to them and with them. Three of them graduated from our Bible Institute with a Bachelor of Ministry degree. Roger is the oldest and has been a vital part of our ministry for about 11 years. Roger will do anything or repair anything necessary. He is described as the quiet, but very vital good-man-in-your-church kind of guy. He’s not the first man you think of when it comes to preaching but when we had a need in one of our outreach ministries for a man to minister Roger stepped up to the plate and made a run. He has enjoyed ministering there for about 16 months now and as far as we have heard he is batting 1,000.
Jenny is the best cook this side of the Pecos. She also graduated from our institute with a degree and she is now teaching in SS and Children’s church. Jenny helps us in keeping order among the students that live here and Jenny is our so called unseen monitor among our students… “Better not do that, Jenny might see you.”
Their 13 year old daughter Meah is our church pianist and is very advanced for her age and position. She is our sweetheart and one of Pastor’s favorites.
TALAKAG…what or where is that?
We have an outreach ministry about 2 hour drive away in a town named Talakag. Another of our couples, who will be featured next month, started that work a few years ago. It is in a tiny community some distance from the city and the people there are very basic or necessitous as far as worldly goods are concerned. They have met inside “Barnabas”, oops…Reverend’s house since the church’s beginning. The opportunity came up to buy the small patch of land next to Reverend’s house. Yes, that is his first and real name…Reverend. He, like Barnabas, has made whatever the Lord has given him available to his Creator. As the money can be squeezed and put to that project we have bought that patch, in Reverend’s name, and are developing a small meeting place with a real restroom for the people who faithfully meet there every Sunday and Thursday. If you want to see Talakag ministry watch below.
EVANGELISM AND CHURCH
We continue to have publick evangelism three or more times per week. Our church is slowly growing, and we truly enjoy this. We teach though, the even more difficult and important need of constant life evangelism. Just this week Robin and I had an appointment in an office and met with a person who was very good in speaking English. We spent 30 truly enjoyable minutes giving him the TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH.
BIRTHDAY AND ANNIVERSARY
Robin and I enjoyed the wonderful remembrance of our wedding 36 years ago this month. Some of you were there and I hope it is a good memory for you too. Robin also commemorated her birthday this month and we thank you for all those who wish us the best on those occasions. Another anniversary I enjoy remembering is Oct. 2. This year will be thirty 37 years since the SWAT TEAM drove out of Pensacola with the conviction that either God will take care of us or we’ll die in a ditch somewhere, but we are going to do something for the Lord. Robin and I are both in very good health, PTL, and still have the energy and motivation to do all that our Master asks us to do.
