Rom 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
Six times the word “happy” appears in the New Testament and I can directly or indirectly identify with every one of them. I love the happy upbeat song that starts “I am happy in the service of the King”. I guess I love this song because…….I am happy in the service of the King. I can’t imagine a better, more abundant life than I have had during the time I’ve served the Lord. I have had 46 employments besides the ministry and none of them would tempt me to return to them. Many miss out on the abundant life in the one life they have to live.
I am especially happy today because it is a personal celebration and fond remembrance. On this day in 1970 I organized my very first street meeting preaching to many folk gathered early to watch the fireworks behind the civic auditorium in Jacksonville, Florida. I had 5 preachers and the youth group from Dr. Bob Gray’s church with many tracts, music and preaching. I told this to my pastor, Adam Thompson, this morning in a phone conversation and I asked how old he was at that time. He dryly replied that he wasn’t born yet…ha…ha… I respectfully called him a “smart aleck”.
We, here in our ministry, are happy in the service of the King. We have five outreach ministries or churches started out from us in more rural areas. All these do publick ministries and all are prospering. We are bringing some young people down from one of our mountain ministries and training them for the ministry. These are special souls in several respects. They are not well educated and even have trouble reading either their own language or English. So, most of them don’t know the first book of the Bible. As a Bible teacher I must start below scratch. So, this is going to be an all-together different venture for our ministry, and we are all looking forward to it.
Just a quick ad for Chick tracts…if you don’t use them you are missing out. For many years we have put out Chick tracts and they have been most generous. We are on their mission’s program list to receive them and distribute them freely and we do. Thanks Chick. Attached is a picture of the container we out always take out full to our street meeting. We have had three meetings in the last ten days, and we always bring it back nearly empty. May the good Lord bless every tract. We have, long ago, passed the million mark on passing tracts in our city of CDO.
