THE WORLD PASSETH AWAY
Yes, the world, indeed passeth away and we can’t hardly stand waiting any longer. One of my many favorite hymns is “This world is not my home”. Hallelujah, Glory to God, Amen, Hosanna, Praise the Lord. And many more.But, while we have been commanded to “Go ye into all the world … ” it seems wise to learn some things about this world.
WORLD GEOGRAPHY AND HISTORY AS RELATED TO ISRAEL AND JEWS
This week starts a new school year -and our Bible institute also begins anew.I am teaching the title in bold print above. There is so much misinformation and nonsense prevalent today about antisemitism, anti-Israel, and general hatred for the Jew everywhere that I decided to teach these young people what the proper Biblical attitude should be toward these subjects. This includes their own country, Philippines, as well as how all other nations will be judged before the Lord for their attitude toward the same. This subject is certainly challenging because none of these kids ever saw a Jew, cannot point to Israel on a world map and, just learned that “father” Abraham was the father of that nation. They never heard of the holocaust, cannot tell you what continent Germany is on nor can they name one enemy of Israel yesterday (Bible) or today. I’ve got my work cut out for me … but I am excited and eager to begin.
l’VE GOT THE WHOLE WORLD IN MY HANDS
I bought a new globe-on-a-stand and, a new world map for this new class. The globe is about 18″ and is quite awkward and easy to drop. We know from past experience that if you drop this size globe more than three times you must buy a new globe. I warned them severely to handle this world with great care or it will cost you … double meaning there. If they choose to play with this world now, they will have the weight of the whole world on their shoulders and this world passeth away.
CONSTRUCTION 101
We also want the guys in our group to learn all they can about basic construction skills. But if we send them into the world they will learn all the other ways of the world which only defiles. Our home needed a small expansion and we know a very good Christian construction guy from another church… he can do anything in construction. He agreed to let the guys help on this project as well as teach them as they go. The guys got paid at the end and it was more money than they ever had at one time in their lives. Everyone involved got what they wanted in this win-win project.
MY HALF BIRTHDAY
My dad’s birthday was Aug. 12 and my birthday is Feb. 12. To the day this is half a year. My dad and I always half jokingly celebrated each other’s half birthday on each other’s birthday. Do the math. Yesterday I celebrated my half birthday on my dad’s 112 birthday, although he is in heaven. When I was born Adolph Hitler and Franklin Roosevelt were both breathing … barely. So, how old am I? If you get the right answer you win 500 Philippine pesos which you will receive when we pick you up from our airport. HINT … I was born at a very early age.
