Pro 22:2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.
A TECHNILOGICAL ONCE-IN-LIFE EXPERIENCE In photo #115.01 Robin and Mary are looking at a webcam showing the Manalo family in the Philippines, see photo #115.02. This means nothing to you but everything to us. Here is the story. A good friend, Brian Spratt from Bro. Mike Veach's church in Staten Is. NY went on a missions trip to Philippines. He went to a lot of trouble and expense to visit Mary's family there. Some may not be aware that we adopted Mary from the Philippines nearly 14 years ago and she has not been back to see them since. They live in a very remote part of the Philippines and have no phone, computer etc. Brian gathered them (Father, one brother, three sisters, and a cousin) and took them to an internet café and set up his laptop with webcam and called us via Yahoo. For the first time since she was 11 months old Mary was able to spend over an hour visiting audibly and visually with her family. Tears, from both sides could have filled a jug. Photo #115.02 shows her oldest sister Joy, her brother Elbert John who now pastors his own church there, and her father Laterio Manalo. Although scientific discoveries are usually used to cast doubts on the Lord, this time it was a real blessing. Praise the Lord and thank you Brian.
In Photo #115.03 we are in glory ministering in a small Gypsy community less than a mile from the current location of our church. Fellowlabourer in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ Bro. Pete Heisey is will us and this is his specialty in the ministry. He has a work primarily among the Gypsies on the other side of Romania nearly 8 driving hours away. He, like me, plays the accordion but he plays it in the Gypsy style of music. They love it and him. He preaches in their peculiar Gypsy language as well as Romania. Photo #115.04 shows the crowd he drew and crammed into this tiny house just 30 yards from the city dump. Photos #115.05, 06 prove me when I say it was quite difficult to clearly distinguish where the dump ends and this community of Gypsy houses began. Photo #115.08 shows one of our college students, Danutz, giving his testimony to these dear Gypsy souls. We thank the Master of the ministry for giving us these remote, unique, and to most people rare opportunities to serve Him.
Photo #115.07 reveals the fancy-dancy cake Mary created to celebrate Robin and I's 20th wedding anniversary. Sometimes it seems like yesterday but we have grown so close and interdependent that I can't hardly remember if I was born first or married to Robin first. Some of you reading this were present on the occasion of our wedding and can rejoice with us in this celebration of twenty years of joint service to the King of kings and Lord of lords.
