Street Corner Preaching
Easter weekend 1998, Durban, South Africa...

Easter weekend 1998, Durban, South Africa..Its the time of year when thousands of people flock to Durban for one main reason: To have a good time. For some it means swimming in a polluted sea, for some to spend hard earned money on worthless memorabilia, for some to get drunk every evening...  People try to fill the emptiness inside them by mixing with other empty people, and trying desperately to enjoy themselves. And in Durban, like many other holiday spots, they can get into a true holiday spirit, which means leaving their moral values and good sense at home, trying to be "free"... But, sadly, only getting caught up more and more in the terrible bondages of sin.

There is also a little group of believers who go to Durban, but for a differentEaster weekend 1998, Durban, South Africa.. reason: to share the good news to a lost generation, that Jesus Christ died for our sins, arose from the dead and is alive in our day. And, like other Easter and Christmas holidays, people who came to Durban to experience "the good life" end up meeting the Author of Life - Jesus Christ.

As Paul went to the marketplace in big cities to preach the gospel, so there are still believers going to public gathering places today, in the pouring rain or sweltering heat, reaching out to people blinded by sin and empty religion, sharing with them the true and unadulterated Word of God for this hour. The people who mock and scoff them are becoming increasingly more than those who respond... But hallelujah! - God's Word is going out, and He has promised that it will not return void unto Him.
